These hand-sculpted wooden vessels are characterized by their intricate, small openings at the top. Each unique piece begins as a log, lathe-turned to define its organic outside contour. Through the narrow opening, the interior is precision-hollowed, meticulously mirroring the exterior shape down to the base. This delicate craftsmanship results in thin-walled vessels, typically measuring a precise 3/8 to 1/2 inch in thickness. 11” high by 8” wide
This vessel was turned from five laminated pieces of African Wenge wood. A Eucalyptus Burl was turned and attached to the Wenge base. A wipe on poly finish preserves the wood which can be cleaned with a damp sponge and dried with a soft cloth.
