hollow form vessels & vases

These wooden vessels are defined by their small openings at the top.  A cut piece of a log is mounted on the lathe and turned creating the outside shape of the piece.  The hollowing out of the inside of the vessel through the small opening at the top will follow the outside contour along and down the sides to the bottom of the inside of the vessel.  Most of the wooden vessels will have a wall thickness of 3/8 an inch to 1/2 an inch.  After drying, the vessel is then sanded and oiled.
